Please read :
This is for my son Jet who is so excited to be almost a man! He has Down syndrome and cannot wait for his 18th on the 7th December this year. We set up this page so we could surprise him on his birthday with cards sent to him from all over the world for his birthday. Cards can be sent to
PO BOX 8104
He loves the WWE and works out everyday just to be as fit as the wrestlers on the show. He also loves all the marvel movies with wolverine being his favorite. He’s favorite footy team is St Kilda. Jet is such a kind loving person with his siblings (he is the oldest of seven, one angel sister) being the number one thing close to his heart! He has a strong sense of right and wrong, drives his brothers bonkers lol and just loves school. He has his school friends but only family friends outside of school.
I’m so proud of my little man, the boy who I was told at 4 weeks old only had one day to live but who will now be 18 on the 7th December this year. He really is special and I would love to give back to him the love he has given me all these years by doing this one thing for him. I will give him the ‘key’ to the birthday cards on his birthday. He will do cartwheels when he sees them!! I’m not joking lol. I love him with all my heart and can’t wait to see him become the man he so desperately wants to be.
Everyday he reminds us he is almost a man and working so hard at growing a beard so he can be a man. At last count there were about 40 hairs in his chin that he has being trying to grow for a few years now lol. God I love him and thank you to everyone who sends a birthday card and for sharing and showing the love.
Thank you from his mum kristie and his whole family xxx
If you decide to do this, you’re able to do it from now, Kristie is putting all cards in a box for Jet to open on his birthday :)
this photograph intrigues me so much! why isn’t this the most famous photo from 9/11 instead of the falling man? isn’t 2 people holding hands after jumping more significant than 1 man? it makes me wonder what the story is behind this photo, were they friends or lovers? or just strangers who were too scared to jump alone? it shows that people need a helping hand even in their final moments, i love it.
Fucking reblog today; tomorrow. Any day I see it on my dash. Beautiful. I for one think they were strangers. Sometimes it’s easier to care for a stranger, how else would they have found the courage to not only jump, but to look into someone’s eyes and jump. I don’t think I could have done that if I knew the person well.
Fuck man imagine what was going through their heads.
These are some of them, most were golden retrivers and labradors, but also included german shepherds and other breeds. Sadly most are dead now, while many people forget them and don’t spare them a thought.
As people lay dying, trapped and hurt, a team of nearly 100 loyal and courageous search dogs put their lives on the line to help humans. Without them, many more would not have survived, yet few people consider them.
In such a chaotic, terrifying, hot, acrid-smelling, smokey and loud environment, countless human lives depended on their ability to focus, listen, respond to their handlers, and work tirelessly. Stepping over cracked glass, hot tarmac, through flames and thick smoke, being winched over deep ravines, they battled on to seek out survivors and bring them aid.
They worked around the clock, day and night, searching, sniffing, over and over. Not only did they search, but they comforted - many eyewitnesses speak of how the dogs would stop and sit by newly-recovered victims, giving them a sense of hope and relief, before moving on to look for the next. As the situation became desperate, and the rescue workers and fire teams became utterly distraught at the amount of people who were recovered dead, these dogs brought them comfort, sitting with them on breaks, letting them grieve.
Many of these dogs are old, and have passed away. Let us remember the courage and loyalty they showed at such a horrendous event. They didn’t have a choice, but nonetheless they did what was asked of them and helped save countless lives. Don’t let their bravery be forgotten today either, or their determination to be a ‘good dog’ despite the scary and dangerous environment around them.
My friends dog died there … He was a k9 dog helping his cop .. He died from the fumes of the fire .. He did his job and want down in history
